Remember That You Are Mortal

Memento Mori is a clothing line and webzine by Joseph William. It’s also a latin phrase meaning “Remember that you are mortal.” The shirts in the collection each have a great take on that line, which sets them apart from the other skull-themed shirts in the market.

The Binary Skull, in addition to being a really neat image, makes a clear statement on the dependent nature of life and death. Neither could exist without the other, and they’re equally necessary to complete the whole. Cherry Blossom features a laughing skull prominently- leaving the viewer to question what, exactly, the skull is laughing about (perhaps because he enjoys the needless fear he inspires, or because even in death he is so infused with life-like qualities). Another favorite of mine is Blue Wolf, which displays the caption Memento Mori next to the image of a menacing wolf. It’s true, wolves could eat you at any moment. By wearing the shirt, you inform the world of this hidden danger.

There are also shoes, bags and badges available at the Memento Mori store, so even if your t-shirt collection is a little full, it’s still worth a look.
