$4000 and Fame, These are what itself. Design Competition Offers

itself. (sic) is another ongoing tee shirt design competition. Well, I’m not trying to undermine the newly launch competition, in fact its bold move (offering up to $4000 in prize!) could place it on the same level with other design competitions such as Allmighty’s, Design by Humans or Uneetee (but not Threadless). If not in term of number of good submissions or active members, at least when it comes to prize offered to the winners.

Submitted designs are not bad anyway, I could even find my favorites in seconds such as Refable Pndora’s Box (by Draco), It’s Rock’n'Roll, baby! (image above, by Maru) and Hear Me O Great Guide (by jecrt).

Apparently, itself. competition was little bit rushed. From the blog posting, I understand that itself. had printed some of its own tees. One of them is slogan tee quoting The Da Vinci’s wisdom "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" on three weeks ago (June 4th) and calling for design submission on the same day. The reason for having an ongoing competition?
Here’s what they say:

we are lacking cool and funky designs from our cool and funky users. We want to encourage you to stop sitting there doing nothing and start imagining and creating… and providing itself with wonderful designs to share and wear.

How cute. No matter what the reason is, itself. tee design competition is now on my watch list. Could it be another big hit? We’ll see later.
