Art. Streetwear. Reluxe.

Reluxe is a New York City based clothing company, drawing their influences from both the world of streetwear and the world of modern illustration. The result is a cool, brightly colored collection that appeals to artists just as much as it does to hip hop fans.

Killing It is a great example of this strategy at work, combining the huge slogans of contemporary streetwear with hand-drawn lettering that harkens back to underground comics.

Pigeon uses the bird to establish urban cred, but takes the concept into unfamiliar territory by having a blobby creature use the bird for a mount. Instead of treating the pigeon as most do (as a pest, a kind of winged rat), Reluxe pictures it as a vehicle for reaching the stars. That’s a level of imagination that, frankly, I think streetwear needs more of.

By using a different take on the subjects in their shirts, Reluxe is helping to keep the streetwear industry fresh and evolving.
