Appenzell TYO and Huge Tokyo Mansion are the new Tokyo Art Beat Tees
Two new tees are rolled out by Tokyo Art Beat as part of its twice a year featured artist collection.
The first tee, Appenzell TYO, created by Alex [So]nderegger + Susanna [Ba]er. The duo So+Ba came out with design that’s inspired by traditional silhouetted paper cut-out art from the Swiss alpine region of “Appenzell” — and that’s the name come from. What makes this tee special is all the design cues were replaced by mashed up scenes and symbols that populate daily life in Tokyo, created the detailed feel of sophisticated design.
The other shirt is Paramodel, a brainchild of duo Eastern Osaka (Yasuhiko Hayashi and Yusuke Nakano). It features very detail art of graffiti-style rail track landscape art. The design itself is just one prove that the duo has been one of the leaders of the latest generation of Japanese artists and a fixture at art fairs and festivals around Japan.
