From Antique to Hip with TealTown Ink
Something I love about Etsy stores is how specific their wares usually are. Because they tend to be small companies, they’re less concerned with marketability and mass appeal than they are with showing the world the work they love. It’s an outlook that is perfect for creating original and interesting t-shirt designs.
For TealTown Ink, their niche is updating antique or antique-styled imagery and giving it a level of cool that makes it wearable for just about anyone. For a shirt like Prime Ribs, this updating took the form of placement- putting the art on the sides of the tee instead of a typical chest placement gives it a unique look and a creative edge. Other shirts like You Deserve Pie insert modern humor into classic styling, which creates an interesting mix of old-fashioned politeness and contemporary snark.
I was initially drawn in by the ornate lines of these pieces, but the options available on each shirt add some extra enticement. Each design has multiple color options available, which is a cool way to make sure that every customer gets exactly the shirt they always wanted.

They are beautiful, and the printing is really well done. It’s worth pointing out, though, that their women’s tee shirts are printed on baggy Hanes tees that have very little shape to them, a high neckline, and run large. I bought a shirt from them a while ago and had to send it back because it was so different from what I expected — a pity, because I was in love with the design (Illustrated Bird) and I would love to see it on a better-fitting shirt.

That is what happens if you try to go to cheap on the brand of tee you use. Always use the best so your customers are not disappointed.
