Ink-Hound.com Looks Beyond the T-Shirt
Ink Hound is a site offering limited edition t-shirts, voted on by the community. But while that model has been done before by many other sites, they’re definitely bringing some new ideas to the table.
While other sites limit themselves to the t-shirt, Ink Hound has expanded their line to include hats and more. That means two separate design competitions, one aimed at caps and the other at tees, long sleeve shirts, and even hoodies. It’s a level of variety that is so far unmatched by any of the competition.
Another interesting aspect of Ink Hound is their commitment to the environment and the community. They offer organic inks and organic shirts, in addition to dedicating a portion of profits to charity. Artists also benefit from this arrangement, earning $2 per piece sold when their work is printed (and even better, they regain the rights to the artwork after printing).
The current designs for sale are Alicia by nonasama and Professor Von Plat Hat by MJ (yep, that’s me!). These designs show the potential of Ink Hound, as Alicia has a nice non-mainstream shirt placement and Professor Von Plat Hat uses embroidery, giving the shirt a cool, textured look. If these designs aren’t your cup of tea, vote on the other shirt and hat options and help determine what designs will be featured on Ink Hound in the future.
