Go Ape has just released their new line, a vintage tee by Joshua Kemble who tells a story about pretension which has been around us since the first. Some regard it as pressure, there is also considered as a trigger.

It is shown on the design of Pretension Vintage ($ 18.00) which is written “Utilizing a vaster knowledge of fine music, art, and literature to humilitate the common man”. It became obvious that in antiquity, vast knowledge of art, music and literature will make someonelook more superior than people who do not have such knowledge.

This vintage shirt is designed by Joshua Kemble, a freelance illustrator based on Oregon. He’s a Xeric Award winning freelance illustrator/cartoonist who’s done work for clients ranging from Nada Surf to Merrill Lynch. He’s currently working on a Graphic Novel for NBM Publishing, and his last comic numb, is available in it’s second printing, from his website. Even he has won several times a Threadless competition.

Unfortunately, the print shop that is used by Go Ape still continued to print this shirt on girls’ sizes, even though the print was a bit too big. Therefore, some of the girls’ shirts may have some or all of the bottom text missing. Girls’ shirts will be $10 instead of $18.

Everybody knows Bob Dylan. He has been known for five decades, and I love his songs that talk about social critique, anti-war, and civil rights. He is an artist and a social fighter as well. Bob’s greatness is that he is able to apply all kinds of music nicely into his songs. How can’t we love him?

And if you adore Bob, then you should adore this guy as well. He is Bruce Springsteen. Do you remember him? This guitarist, in addition to his musical prowess, he has also a generous nature. He participated in the project “We Are The World” by USA for Africa, and Antipartheid Sun City project. His songs are always specials because they are created with love and they have a very strong element of American culture. Very clearly seen that both have exceptional musical character. I miss on their songs now.

And as their admirer, it’s natural if we have a picture of them, right? Here are some tee design that I love most. First one is called Curiouser tee ($22). This design really depicts the other side of Johnny Depp’s Mad HatterCheshire cat. A colouring book, a peacock, a crested shield, dog tags and medallions – what could they possibly have in common? Well, how about the fact that they’re label tags for various lines of clothing? Fashion changes every season, why should the label tags be left behind? While we look at fashion bibles spelling out autumn 2010’s dos and don’ts, high street designers are busy juggling every aspect of their autumn lines, from the right length of the skirt, the perfect colour and now, the right clothing labels.

Cotton replaces plastic as clothing labels look out for a greener world

So, here’s the thing… A T-shirt is no longer tagged with just a piece of plastic with a barcode stamped on it. Instead you might find an embossed shield woven onto a piece of brightly coloured fabric. A dress will be tagged with a beautiful peacock with an intricately stitched tail. The right label tag can change the perception of the buyer. It shows care and an infinite amount of detail and attention that has been paid, down to the smallest detail.

If a tag was made with so much precision, something that would most likely be discarded after purchase, imagine the detail the manufacturer must have paid to the piece of clothing itself. Imagine a gorgeous delicate set of underwear – which tag would you prefer on it, a minimal plastic one, that you’re in constant fear will snag a bit of lace and unravel the whole ensemble, or an equally delicate piece of fabric stitched and matched to the bra?

Just getting a piece of cloth to replace plastic may not be enough. Sure, you’re even doing your bit for the environment. A lot of manufacturers are now opting for specifically cotton labels. In a perfectly environmentally conscious world, even the designers have realised the potential beauty of a material that was once upon a time so plebeian.

So Hermès, usually known for their silk, has designed a line of cotton scarves for Liberty. They’re chic, affordable and, most importantly, environmentally sustainable. Using a cotton label isn?t that big a commitment, but it does make a difference. Woven labels immediately conjure up a specific outlook – someone has cared enough for their product and their environment. Companies have designers working specifically on individual clothing tags that convey a brand?s aesthetics as well as its conscience.

The next time you come home shopping with a trolley full of goodies, don’t be surprised if you find yourself snipping off the clothing tag to tuck it away in your drawer instead of tossing it into the dustbin. Who knows when inspiration strikes and you want to fill in the colouring book that came attached to your jeans or stitch on the appliqué of the multicoloured peacock on a plain white tee? Inspiration can strike from anywhere, so we won’t blame you if you pick up a pair of trousers purely because its cloth tag looked too good to pass up.

Elena Gallen, a visual artist located in Barcelona that already well known with her bleeding nose Kate Moss and the double headed Bambi design tee, is now releasing new designs. She’s collaborating with French brand Kulte on this limited edition of t-shirts collection “The Final Day” which theme is the end of the world. That’s exciting. Who haven’t watch 2012?! It seems like everybody is curious to know how they’re life gonna end. I guess that’s inspired Elena in the first place.

In this The End of the World Caused by a Black Hole T-shirt (€30.00), she tried to translate the speculation of how the world’s going to end, with a big dot as black hole in the center of the tee, surrounded by 2 green girls. It’s pretty and edgy.

London always remind me of  the red telephone booth. It’s a public telephone kiosk that is a familiar sight on the streets of London. The colour red was chosen to make them easy to spot and the black-handled telephone plus royal crown emblem on top of the door makes it more vintage and unique. Many tourists now enjoying their time taking picture inside the telephone booth, that’s how iconic it is.

A public telephone nowadays, in the era of mobile phones and internet, now have other purposes. It is used as a shelter from a sudden rain, still using for communication but using our own mobile phones inside, changing clothes, rearranging the bulky bag we carry, or even crying after fighting with the loved one. Obesity and Speed’s shreddy tee featuring a slightly sheer fabric with shredded part on the back, makes it an overly sexy-but-somewhat-messy street dress made for only highly confident ladies. Producing this tee need a special attention indeed; because the tailors would have to torn the garment one line at a time — maybe that’s how Obesity and Speed should justify the price (fyi, it’s no less than $143 at Revolve Clothing!)


Now we’re talking about shredded T-shirts, I want to ask have you ladies caught on to this trend? I find it insanely cool to see a girl wearing it — like it or not, it’s really hard not to stare at her. But does anyone else love this style? A friend of mine told me that it seems like shredded tee are ridiculously fragile, and even on the excellent lighting of professionally-taken photos, they look like something chewed on them. But one advice I heard, regarding fragility of this kind of tee, they’re totally safe and strong even to wash them in the washing machine if we put them in a washing net. What’s your take then?
