After three years of feeding a dedicated rank and file, the brand is ready to take the next step. Guy Vernes is doing a re-launch on February 8 with a brand new collection debuting online and in domestic retail as well as the launch of a refreshed guyvernes.com. Who doesn’t know Gingerbread? The soft molasses and ginger cookie cut in various shapes (mostly in holiday-theme shapes, person shapes), sometimes elaborately decorated. Gingerbread are often sold at fairs, because these treats were holiday favorites.

The harder German-style Gingerbread is often used to build gingerbread houses similar to the “witch’s house” encountered by Hansel and Gretel. These houses, covered with a variety of candies and icing, are popular Christmas decorations, often built by children with the help of their guardians.

Tips to make the best gingerbread: Let gingerbread cool completely before you decorate it, a simple glaze of confectioners’ sugar and milk works well for decorating cookies, add extracts or citrus zest to enhance the flavor, Use liquid or paste food coloring to brighten up icing, add decorations (such as colored sugar, shredded coconut, toasted sliced almonds, chocolate and rainbow sprinkles, etc) before the icing dries, let decorated cookies stand until icing sets, about 2 hours. And you’re done.

What’s happened when an Art Director based in New York City created a t-shirt Line? Plink Design is the answer! Plink Design is a one man shop located in New York City dedicated to producing clear, clean and playful creations. Joseph Mueller, the owner, usually work mostly with graphic design and web mediums. Recently he branched out into screen-printing and created a line of t-shirts.

In Plink Design website, he wanted to share the first shirt of the series called Rain Drops & Rhombuses ($20). The shirts are a 2-color limited edition shirt, printed on 6oz Gildan heavy white shirts. It’s an awesome full body print t-shirt with interesting choice of colors. Forget about grey, cloudy, and rainy days! Even though the t-shirt portraying rain, but it strangely will make you happy, just by looking at it (feels like summer)! The happy tee is suitable for men and women. Love it!

New collections from FunkRush are inspired by the famous American Science Fiction TV Series, Heroes. The series tells the stories of ordinary people who discover superhuman abilities, and how these abilities take effect in the characters’ lives. It’s a great TV show! Because of Heroes, now everyone have a secret wish of having a super power (Okay, not everyone, maybe just me and more, BIG, Heroes fans).

This 3 Heroes tees feature three characters from Heroes, they are: Sylar, Claire Bennet and Hiro Nakamura. All of the tees have a retro styled print ad that is very detailed as well. Bennet Cheerleading Camp (£20) tee has a satire funny message. Sylar Tee, Clock Shop tee shirt (£20), is cool with black color and makes people curious to dial the Gabriel Gray number in it. Here’s a good news! We found an interesting t-shirt website: Scopial. Scopial is an online community based T-shirt designing company with an ongoing design contest. We’re not very where Scopial is operated from and where its tee shirts will be shipped from but it has very strong India feel; T-shirts are sold using Rupee currency while the founder are all have India names.

Anyway, everyone is invited to submit their artwork to Scopia to be voted by the community members on a scale of 1 to 5. We all know how this work, community decides which designs are funny and which are not so funny, or which designs are cool and which ones are not.

Have you ever been to London? I haven’t, but I have seen lot of London landmarks in movies, television, and Internet. James Bond is one franchise that always show London in every movie, as he’s a member of British Secret Service. From them, I recognized Big Ben, London Millennium Eye, Themes River, even the cute London taxis. Wow, I really really want to go to that city someday.

To satisfy the hunger of London, this tee design may feed you well. Made by David Bushell, It draws really well depicting London surroundings. The first time I see this Mr Typeface tee (£15) I thought, “He must be handsome, classy, and a great poetry writer!” Just look at his vest and the way he hold himself together! Mr. Typeface by Mathiole is one of winners in SwishSwosh. SwishSwosh (cute name, by the way) is a British t-shirt brand focussing on limited edition tshirts and hoodies created via an ongoing design competition. Tim Burton is a well known director especially for his Gothic theme in every movie he directs. One movie that will approach us is Alice in Wonderland. Approximately, the movie will be premiered starting next week, based on the classic novel by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (under pseudonym Lewis Carroll). The actual published date of the novel was on 1865, since then there are lot of movies made based on the characters.

Bringing up the Gothic spirit, La Carmina presents the Carmina in Wonderland t-shirt, designed by Joy. The picture depicts Alice and her cat — the grinning Cheshire cat that we used to know. Of course, it’s quite creepy picture presented but hey it’s Gothic after all!

Another new collection from J!NX. For Spring 2010 they unveil several tees collection for men under IDentity sub-brand. What you need to know about IDentity, this fashion collection is deeply influenced by fantasy story, games, and literally anything related with skulls and zombie (hey, J!NX’s logo is skull after all).

Take a look deeper to each design. It may remind you to a movie, games, or any other geek thing you experience in life. Let me give you example, Sorcery and Technology design. Mage, Sorcerer, Wizard, you name it. Apparently, sorcerer nowadays not only using magic, but also technology. I don’t see any technology in the tees, but the title itself resembles the idea on how combining fact and fiction, old school and new school, traditional and modern.

The other thing is RPG Battleground design. Woot, RPG? Yeah, Role Playing Game is something you are familiar with, game freaks out there. Whether it is Western character or Japanese character, RPG games always amuse me — in old days, really miss that period.

This RPG Battleground tees is actually part of Fall 09 collection, but it is okay if we take a look again. Depicted Conan The Barbarian-like character that uses his heavy sword, accompanied by cute but strong lady, to fight against monstrous creatures.

Everybody must already have watched the amazing movie: Avatar. On January 12, 2010, Haiti was struck by a magnitude-7.0 earthquake, the country’s most severe earthquake in over 200 years. The epicenter of the quake was just outside the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince. The capital city was devastated.

It has now been weeks since the devastating quake. The latest estimate offered by the European Union citing Haitian authorities stands at 200,000 people dead and many more injured. This number is comparable in scale to the 2004 Asian tsunami, which was estimated at 230,000 people dead.

Many earthquake victims in Haiti are still dying due to the lack of medical attention, food and basic sanitary conditions. There are now reports of erupting violence and an imminent public health disaster, which might make the death toll climb even further.

I don’t recognize most of “animals” pictured in this group shot, I reckon most of them resemble “cats” (or the likes), an animal looks like “sheep”, but I can’t tell which one in specific. Let’s talk about Walrus! The tusks are the first thing that you notice on a walrus. They are huge canine teeth and both male and female walrus have them. The longer the walrus tusk is the more important their rank in their group. In the winter they live in the ice pack of the Bering Sea. The walrus have big whiskers. I have never heard Rubik’s cube for years, until Will Smith brought it back in his Pursuit of Happyness movie. The truth is, Rubik’s cube part is purely fiction and not told in the original novel. What’s so special about this cube?

London always remind me of  the red telephone booth. It’s a public telephone kiosk that is a familiar sight on the streets of London. The colour red was chosen to make them easy to spot and the black-handled telephone plus royal crown emblem on top of the door makes it more vintage and unique. A public telephone nowadays, in the era of mobile phones and internet, now have other purposes. Co-Tee TV Episode 49: Crazy Dog t-shirts & Excess Is OK

You’d likely found this area all over the world and you’ll go there for whatever reasons. It’s the Chinatown. Michael Steele, one of The Tank Theory artists society, found the fact interesting and made a clustered design tee called Chinatown ($27). A Cluster to him resembles images or objects grouped together to form something larger. It gives images or objects a stronger presence, rather than being displayed by themselves, creating a much more dynamic experience for the viewer. So, anything that you can see, feel, and smell in the Chinatown is put into this design. Interesting how you can actually remember so many things, just by looking at one design.

As an artist based out of Melbourne Australia, Michael Steele have had a keen interest in anything creative from a very young age. Over the years he has explored various mediums and styles such as, illustration, oil painting and digital media. With new series of artworks that he has created as part of the “Cluster” series, He’s been able to explore various styles, techniques and mediums by portraying what he sees around him and then present these influences artistically. These influences that he has portrayed come from various avenues, such as the media, memories, people, textures, technology and so on.

The Tank Theory Artist Society aims to expand upon the art based t-shirt by giving some of today’s premier artists and designers a canvas with a Tank Theory label. The Society works as a platform to share ideas and styles across a wearable medium. That’s great, feels like wearing an artwork!

A good news from our fellow blogger Andy. His blog, Hide Your Arms (HYA), is releasing a t-shirt! After 4 years writing about t-shirts, Andy finally decide to release a t-shirt. The shirt features the brand new Hide Your Arms logo. The logo (created by Ray Masaki of Lowdtown fame) will be being used in the upcoming redesign of the site, and general branding. I think the logo is awesome. It’s simple, cute and completely wearable. It might be one of the most stylish logo I’ve ever seen.

After getting through the process of picking colours, choosing a printer, working out how many tees to order, and calculating the pricing, Andy admit that the production process is not easy. This will hopefully enrich his experience in giving insights to t-shirt brands that he’ll review in the future.

Another blogger that is going to release his own t-shirt is Micah from Atshirtblog. His tee is also logo tee with 3 yellow bars (can be found in the website favicon) and looks very interesting to wear.

The Hide Your Arms tee will be going on sale on January 21st next year (2010), along with the 4th birthday of Hide Your Arms, so there’s a while to wait before it is available. Congratulations HYA and Atshirtblog. Good luck!

So one day, I’ve had enough with this crappy life, and all I need is a selection of hilarious tees to boost my mood. Let’s check out several hilarious tees I found on Crazy Dog T-shirts.

1. Sick of My Job t-shirt ($16.99) is hilarious because it’s something that I can relate to (hi, boss!). The design shows the carousel horse barf because he’s sick of his long working hour job. At first, I pity the carousel horse, and then remember about my own job. Crap! I might sick of my job either. This will make a good joke and ice breaking on any colleague events. But make sure your boss is not around.
2. I’m on a boat t-shirt ($16.99). “I’m on a Boat” is a single from The Lonely Island’s debut album Incredibad (Featuring T-Pain). The song is a parody of many rap video cliches. The music video reached number one on YouTube in February 2009 and was number one on the U.S. iTunes music video chart. The song was so hilarious, Billboard said the song “takes hip-hop boasting to its most absurd extreme. Ha!
3. Hangover baby t-shirt ($19.99). The t-shirt is inspired by the hilarious The Hangover movie. The movie is about Dough and his friends who have bachelor party in Vegas, but wake up the next morning with a tiger in the bathroom and a six-month-old baby in the closet of their suite at Caesars Palace. 5. Stay Golden Golden Girls t-shirt ($22.00) by Goodie Two Sleeves. The Golden Girls is an American sitcom that originally aired on NBC from 1985 to 1992. Starring Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty, the show centers on four older women sharing a Miami, Florida home. The owner of the house is widow Blanche Devereaux (Rue McClanahan), who has recently been joined by widow Rose Nylund (Betty White) and divorcee Dorothy Zbornak (Bea Arthur), who had both responded to a room for rent ad on the bulletin board of a local grocery store.

Sesame Street is celebrating its 40th season. Wow, felt like yesterday, all the time I spend to watch it in front of TV Sesame Street is a widely recognized and perpetually daring experiment in educational children programming. It was so good that Entertainment Weekly named it the “20th Best Ever Show”. Sesame Street has changed the education scene to focus on “entertainment.” This has turned out to be a valuable theory that not only helps the learning process easier, but it also increases the effectiveness of the information being taught.

I just saw the cuteness overload at the HoleBrain website!

First, it’s about the cute website design. It has the nice cute character on logo and background, with soft pastel colors everywhere in their online store. Second, it’s their cute t-shirts! All of HoleBrain tees are inspired by very cute and happy looking characters designed in fresh drawing style combined with minimal colors to simplify the whole look of the t-shirt. Will, the owner of HoleBrain, has designed and printed all the t-shirts himself. That’s why the tee shirt got a reasonable price at such premium design and t-shirt quality. Interesting!

I like cute illustrations, and Snug t-shirt about a Polar Bear and a Seal has successfully steal my heart! Will’s clean & simple designs definitely works for me! Another great t-shirt by MonsterThreads is Ace. It’s like putting the Ace card in a t-shirt, only, using the more contemporary illustration style. The result is a very sophisticated and unique t-shirt to wear!

My favorite from all of MonsterThreads t-shirts is Hanging Thing. Basically a different point of view of designing a tee. The illustration is actually drawn to ‘hang’ around the t-shirt neck line. That’s awesome!

What happen with those people? Animal testing has never really worked! A recent shows that about 90 percent of medications which has been approved for human use (after previously tested on animal) later proved to be ineffective or harmful to humans in clinical trials.

Drawing is a lovely activity. When the best visual artists from around the world come to work together for a huge collaboration to create clothing designs, they’re trying to change the way you see a T-shirt — from just a graphic-tee that makes you look better to wearable pieces of art with a story behind it. For me, every design printed on Hizoku tee is like a snapshot long series of fictional stories. It’s that time again where we scour the t-shirt blogosphere for the articles that we think deserve a second look. Hopefully for some of you, it will be the first time you have seen them. For the ones you have seen before, take another look….there’s inspiration in these posts:

Saw another extremely-shredded tee by Obesity and Speed, a NY-based fashion label which specialized in cutting-edge, urban-inspired streetwear for women. Obesity and Speed’s shreddy tee featuring a slightly sheer fabric with shredded part on the back, makes it an overly sexy-but-somewhat-messy street dress made for only highly confident ladies. Producing this tee need a special attention indeed; because the tailors would have to torn the garment one line at a time — maybe that’s how Obesity and Speed should justify the price (fyi, it’s no less than $143 at Revolve Clothing!)


Now we’re talking about shredded T-shirts, I want to ask have you ladies caught on to this trend? I find it insanely cool to see a girl wearing it — like it or not, it’s really hard not to stare at her. But does anyone else love this style? A friend of mine told me that it seems like shredded tee are ridiculously fragile, and even on the excellent lighting of professionally-taken photos, they look like something chewed on them. But one advice I heard, regarding fragility of this kind of tee, they’re totally safe and strong even to wash them in the washing machine if we put them in a washing net. What’s your take then?

I like Mandacarú tees for its smart, fresh and unique designs. Flux Collection’s WE T-shirt is an adaption of artwork by Carrie Schneider entitled WE which was exhibited from Oct 17 – Dec 6, 2008 at Monique Meloche Gallery in Chicago, IL. Self-portraitist Carrie Schneider was posing in zebra-skinned (black-and-white, high-contrast patterns) costume as human figure, a profile which represented the exploitation of camouflage art using a ghilie suit — blending with the nature.
