Watch Out for the Manteater!!

When I see the name “Manteater,” I automatically think about that one Nelly Furtado song and dance around in my seat. However, (M)anteater by Sven Palmowski aka a.mar.illo has absolutely nothing to do with this fun pop jam. Instead, it has everything to do with the popular anteater meme that has spread around the Internet like wildfire. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then you’ve been missing out on a good laugh. Google “FU anteater” and you’ll see exactly what I’m referring to. Hilarious, right? Oh, and if you just search for anteaters in general, there are some other funny pictures and captions as well. Anteaters are like the new LOLcats, and I’m totally down with that.anteater, meme, Sven Palmowski, a.mar.illo, Tilteed(M)anteater shows a gigantic anteater that doesn’t have a care in the world, wrecking everything around him and eating all the little humans. This reminds me of a crossover between Godzilla and the classic arcade game, Rampage. I wouldn’t mind seeing this anteater as a new character in the game. I hope that after reading this, someone creates a bootleg version of the game with said character.

A Fortune Telling Owl

Owls are such fascinating animals. There are so many different species, all of which are cool in their own way. T-shirt designs featuring these birds also have a way of being very well done, which makes me like owls even more. The shirt that I’m about to present to you is no exception. After several years of t-shirt purchasing, my tastes have changed quite a bit. I now have a soft spot for one-color designs. Don’t get me wrong, they still have to be good designs, but I’m just recently finding beauty in simple colorways. Coincidentally, I also formed a love for heather gray t-shirts relatively recently. That makes this shirt even more appealing to me. Perhaps you share these two loves like I do, in which case this t-shirt would be a perfect addition to your closet!

Adam mentions in his interview at Tilteed that this design was partially inspired by one of his favorite holidays, Halloween. It’s one of my favorites, too. A Moon with the Power to Bring Things Back to Life

April Wells, theinfinityloop, Tilteed, moon, tide, horse, birdBreath of Life ($12) by April Wells (theinfinityloop) is the newest Limited design to grace Tilteed. With its magical horn, the moon is blowing the life back into these dead creatures. I find this to be a beautiful illustration that obviously has a deeper meaning. In the interview found on the Breath of Life product page, theinfinityloop discusses her idea behind this piece:

“The idea behind it is renewal. If this design was somehow animated, you’d see the flesh of the three creatures being built back on the skeletons. They are coming back to life. C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe inspired this. There is a part when Aslan, the lion, breathes on statues, causing them to return to their former flesh and bone, giving them life. But renewal doesn’t have to be so literal and physical. This can also be about starting over, taking a new direction, renewal of spirit, etc. I chose the moon because it itself renews every month. So does the ocean’s tide, which is also included here.”

A Starfish Gets the Ride of Its Life

With all the animals swimming around in the ocean, it must be tough for creatures like starfish to only be able to lie there and watch, dreaming of the day when they can swim around like the others. Unfortunately, it’s not in the cards for them to swim. All that they can do is slowly crawl along surfaces. Lucky for this one starfish, he has friends who are willing to help! The manta ray and jellyfish put their heads together and thought… and thought… and thought some more. What could they do to help their friend get the experience that isn’t naturally possible? With their thinking caps on (little hats made from torn seaweed), a big light bulb came on. They came up with a solution, the one that you see on this t-shirt design, called He Wanted To Fly So Badly ($18). Boy, oh boy, was their little starfish friend happy! A Mighty Dragon Sails the Seven Seas

Arrrrrrrrrrr, mateys! Say hello to the world’s only peg legged pirate dragon. But don’t let the fact that he’s missing a leg and a hand fool you, as this beast is capable of tearing anything or anyone apart. My best advice is to not do anything to butt heads with this mean creature, or else you’re surely toast! The only one whom he trusts is his little avian friend who happily sits on his shoulder. I hear they have been best friends since they were tiny dragon and bird babies.

I See Sea Otters!

It’s cooler than being at an aquarium because you don’t expect it at all. The otters look like they’ve taken over the entire building for their own amusement. Just look at them go, doing all those crazy flips! I can’t look at this design and not smile.

There’s even one hanging out in the car parked on the street. I don’t know what it’s doing in there or how it got in there. I guess the better question is how did any of this happen? How did all that water get inside the building and vehicle and stay inside? There’s either some magic going on here or I’m simply imagining things. But you see it too, right? I’m going to quit while I’m ahead so that I don’t question my own sanity.

What’s Hiding in the Woods?

The woods are a place full of mystery and beauty, and King of the Woods ($12) by spacemonkeydr does a wonderful job of conveying this. This latest Tilteed Limited design shows a buck that is very well camouflaged in its home. When I look at this design, I get a sense of stillness but also a sense of wonder. What is this deer doing? What is it thinking? The buck’s eyes look like they’re trying to send us a message, but what exactly is this message? Perhaps we humans are getting too close to his territory. Although King of the Woods is a one-color print, there’s nothing simple about the design. What I love about the illustration is how difficult it is to distinguish between the trees and the deer’s antlers. The birds are a nice touch because they add to this illusion. The gray textures in the background also help add a sense of depth in the woods, making the deer come forward and really stand out. All in all, this is a bold piece that deserves to get noticed.

There’s a Very Hungry Shark in the Water

Looks like it’s lunchtime at the office! This hammerhead shark has been working hard in his cubical all morning long and his taste buds are now ready for a delicious fish feast to boost up his energy. Lucky for him, this meal won’t take too much effort to attain since he already has a nice trail laid out for him. The little fish looks he’s just swimming along with absolutely no idea that he’s in any kind of danger. Unfortunately for him, instead of finding lunch during his own break, he’ll be a hungry shark’s meal today. Despite putting on a Band-Aid this morning, this little guy is doomed. I love Jublin’s idea of having the trail spell out “blood” and making it so that the letters aren’t uniform and blatantly obvious. The colors of this piece look great together, and the subtle green lines definitely add more depth to the ocean ripples. I love both the linework and the characters in this piece.

A Sloth Slowly Makes Its Way Over to Tilteed

S is for Slow ($12) by shortriver is like a page out of a children’s alphabet book, showing a sloth doing what it does best: traveling at extremely slow speeds. The choice of animal is great, as both its name and its slowness are represented by the letter S.

Sloths are quite fascinating creatures, and I have a fun time watching them when I’m at the zoo. Of course, they’re never doing much, since I don’t think they’re capable of being busy. I wonder how long it takes for them to move 50 feet! One thing that I’ve noticed, however, is that while their movements are slow, sloths do not take their sweet time when they’re eating. It takes a while for a sloth to reach for food and bring it back to its mouth for consumption, but once the food is in good position, the sloth chows it down like there’s no tomorrow!

What I find to be wonderful about the piece is that if it were a real sloth hanging on a branch on your shirt, it’ll probably still be in the same place for a while, similar to the permanence of this illustration. Although this particular sloth isn’t moving anywhere, S is for Slow is disappearing from Tilteed in 3 days, so act fast if you want your copy!

When a Giant Squid Meet Robot… On Your Shirt!

Have you ever imagine what would happen if a giant squid predictably met a robot? Oh, no, there would be a big war. Giant squid can grow to a tremendous size: recent estimates put the maximum size at 13 metres (43 ft) for females and 10 metres (33 ft) for males from caudal fin to the tip of the two long tentacles (second only to the colossal squid at an estimated 14 metres (46 ft), one of the largest living organisms). The mantle is about 2 metres (6.6 ft) long (more for females, less for males), and the length of the squid excluding its tentacles is about 5 metres (16 ft).

Robot, with all its engine power, will not have a sense of fatigue, even to a match for 24 / 7.

Everybody loves spring! To celebrate, Seventh Ink release their latest designs of 2010 Spring Line.

It describes a psychotic egg with a very nice and big green egg holding spatula to make a scrambled egg.  Another designs are Greedy Shark ( $24) that describes the shark that is always in hunger. And the cutest one, Luv Me For Me T-shirt ($24.00) which tells about love.

When a Hand-painted Webcomic Gets Printed Over a T-shirt

We know that comic is everlasting. But have you ever imagine the hand-painted webcomic that turning into a tee design and get printed? I find it cute! It’s Frank Gibson as an illustrator and creator of Tiny Kitten Teeth which is updated at least three times a week. But he’s not alone. There’s also Becky Dreistadt as a creator, and they have been making comics together for 5 years. The main fellow in the comic, Mewsli, shares a name with their actual one-year old cat.

And now you not only find the comic to read, but also to be worn as a t-shirt! These are two funny comic t-shirt design from Frank Gibson. This is made from cotton in black, and the pink comic will look eye catching when you wear it.

Milred’s Tee Shirt Says: Cheese for Group Animal Shot!

I don’t recognize most of “animals” pictured in this group shot, I reckon most of them resemble “cats” (or the likes), an animal looks like “sheep”, but I can’t tell which one in specific. A group shot of animal kingdom is really we see nowadays and this t-shirt makes it happen. And it happens to when you see  shirt called Group Shot, designed by the man nicknamed mildred ~ have I mentioned that you can see his iconic signature in the back side?

While I am sort of animal lover myself, this design is actually quite creepy. I bet not all cute-loving-girls want to wear it. Despite that fact, I think this design will look cooler on men. I am the Walrus, Beatles-Inspired T-shirt from Fuzzy-Ink

Let’s talk about Walrus! The tusks are the first thing that you notice on a walrus. They are huge canine teeth and both male and female walrus have them. The longer the walrus tusk is the more important their rank in their group. In the winter they live in the ice pack of the Bering Sea. The walrus have big whiskers. They use their whiskers to feel around until they find food. Then they blow to get the food loose or to make it move so they can get it.

And the reason why we’re talking about Walrus is because the new t-shirt from Fuzzy Ink called I am the Walrus ($20.95). The tee is inspired by one of Beatles song with the same title. The design is cute, featured a chubby Walrus in green jacket. The most important thing in the design is the Walrus’s whiskers. The whiskers relate to Fuzzy Ink’s consistency to put as many moustache in their designs.

My favorite from all of MonsterThreads t-shirts is Hanging Thing. Basically a different point of view of designing a tee. The illustration is actually drawn to ‘hang’ around the t-shirt neck line. That’s awesome!
