Taxi Whale Coming Through!
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s… a flying taxi whale?

I’ll admit that I haven’t seen many animal/vehicle hybrids besides the Catbus from My Neighbor Totoro or the obvious Beetle where the insect meets the car. It’s refreshing to see an artist with such a wild imagination! I’d probably be deathly terrified if I ever saw a giant whale with wings smoking a pipe and soaring through the sky, but it’s undeniable that it would be an incredible sight. I’m hesitant about taking a ride in the taxi whale, though. Wouldn’t that involve being eaten, basically? It could just be a taxi whale for krill. Yeah, maybe that’s it.

Regan Smith Clarke Releases Fall 2010 Collection
Regan Smith Clarke has just released its second full line with six new products! These new item follow in the footsteps of the items from the previous line in terms of design aesthetics, but this time around, the designs are more typography based. The new products complement the first line very well, with the two lines balancing each other out with their color and composition. I personally love the clean, simple look that this brand is going after, and I think that Regan is doing a great job of creating a very cohesive brand.
This new line features shirts that can be worn to any casual occasion. They can be dressed up or down because none of them are too bold or colorful, and I think this is a real advantage that RSC products have. My favorite design out of this line is Old Inventions, and both the short sleeve and long sleeve colorways look great. The contemporary, yet vintage feel of the design definitely draws me in!

Minimalist Superheroes
Finally, this shirt has been printed at Threadless! Like many other voters, I have been waiting to see Super Heroic Minimalism ($18) by Biotwist see the light of day on a t-shirt. Unfortunately, one of the major characters is missing. Can you guess who? If you guessed Batman, then you are correct. I believe Threadless didn’t want to run into legal issues, so they passed on the mimimalist Batman. Luckily, that didn’t stop them from picking up the two other heroes. And for this, I am very happy this Monday morning!
While the illustrations are simple, you know right away which superheroes they refer to. I love how the design does not need plus signs for it to be successful in conveying that the red guys on the left turn into the heroes on the right when introduced to the middle variables. Now that I think about it, the design may actually work better with just Spiderman and Iron Man, since both characters start out the exact same. It’s a very clever and effective design!

Design By Humans Suprise September Sale
Design By Humans has just unveiled its surprise September sale, where all shirts have been discounted to just $12! A Subtle Vulcan Salute
So this post isn’t about a t-shirt, but hoodies go hand-in-hand with tees, especially graphic hoodies. Plus, it’s just simply too amazing not to write about!
Threadless recently released a Star Trek inspired design made specifically for hoodies, called Traditional Greeting ($40). Although this illustration wouldn’t have worked on a t-shirt, I am very happy to see that Threadless went ahead with the print despite not being able to release tee versions.
What may appear to be a plain human hand on the front of this sweatshirt is actually a Vulcan hand that’s ready to salute you with a slight unzipping of the jacket. I’ll admit that I was confused when I just saw the giant palm, but I was happily surprised when I learned of the clever concept. I’m no Star Trek geek, but this design is just pure genius! Props to Paulo Bruno for such a great execution of this idea! Spock would approve.
