The Shadow Puppet, Adaptations of the Classic Indonesian Epics: Mahabharata & Ramayana

The Shadow Puppet is a clothing brand that was created in September 2009 that features visions and images of Indonesia’s culture and folklore to inspire and motivate people to love their own culture. Just like wayang, standard modern daily Javanese and Indonesian vocabulary of shadow puppet, (wayang is most often associated with the puppet itself or the whole puppet theatre performance), most of the shadow puppet designs are adaptations of the classic Indonesian epics, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana.

Nerd Monster from The Secret Base in Ohio, Columbus

Do you ever know a very intelligent individual with a low profile? Or a super smart person with credentials to prove it but doesn’t give the impression of a ridiculously smart human being? Well, we called it Nerd Monster, especially if s/he only has one eye but ridiculously huge brain-juice.

Battle of the Depths: Megalodon x Leviathan

Battle of the Depths came forth from wanting to design an elaborately detailed tee shirt depicting an epic battle between Megalodon and Leviathan. Megalodon is a prehistoric Shark which is regarded as one of the largest and most powerful vertebrate creatures to have lived. Leviathan is a giant biblical sea creature mentioned in the books of Job, Isaiah, and Psalms, which is also known as one of the Seven princes of Hell- Envy.

Monsters Everywhere!

If you’ve been around the art t-shirt scene for a while, then you’ll know that Craig Watkins (Wotto) is a pro at putting doodles on a tee. Now these aren’t your ordinary cruddy doodles on scrap pieces of paper (what mine are like). Instead, they are characters full of life and personality. Each one is different from the next, and the possibilities are endless for Wotto and his creature creations. For the next 3 days, Tilteed is showing off some of Wotto’s fine monster making skills by featuring a super limited edition design called Monsterous ($12).Tilteed, monster, Wotto, Craig Watkins, doodle

What I especially love about Wotto’s doodle-riffic designs is the fun that I have picking out a few favorite characters. One of my favorites in this illustration is the little ghost near the bottom left corner. He looks so curious with his little top hat and well-groomed mustache. I also like the monster in the top right corner because he reminds me of the many hipsters that I see roaming around Portland, OR.

Monsterous ($12) is now available for purchase for the next three days at Tilteed. Act fast, because these monsters will run off to an unknown destination at Noon Pacific Time on Thursday, September 23, never to return again. Now’s your chance to have some monsters in your closet. Don’t worry, they won’t bite!

Let’s focus on the creativity and not the confusion. The color is nice, blue and white, remind me of ‘Blue Screen’ situation on my PC when something bad happened.

I also love this Strange Aquatic tee ($24). It’s a design by Eric Fan aka opifan64 of Canada. Printed on our very-own itself white basic t-shirt with water-based inks. Ultra soft, 4 color print. It’s a perfect fit, comfy & wide neck, thin neck rib, non-irritant, printed label. The printed aquatic art is very nice!

Edgy and Contemporary T-shirt Designs by MonsterThreads

I always easily fall in love with full illustration t-shirts, and these tees from MonsterThreads, that offers not only full illustration but also edgy style, has won my attention immediately. Who knew! MonsterThreads is build from the collaboration of international illustrators and designers such as g.s.f. (a colab based in Bangkok), Nicolas Gouny (France guy), Jacqueline Pytyck (based in Canada) and Raquel Aparicio (Spain). Monsterthreads pay no attention to trends, focusing instead on mixing fun and sophistication to constantly create exciting and original collections, season after season. Good job guys!

Another great t-shirt by MonsterThreads is Ace. It’s like putting the Ace card in a t-shirt, only, using the more contemporary illustration style. The result is a very sophisticated and unique t-shirt to wear!

My favorite from all of MonsterThreads t-shirts is Hanging Thing. Basically a different point of view of designing a tee. The illustration is actually drawn to ‘hang’ around the t-shirt neck line. That’s awesome!

Monsterthreads is also producing a range of high quality apparel including tee shirts, singlets and hoodies. Which one you like best?

This blog post from Freelance Switch is not solely focused on t-shirts. In fact, it doesn’t mention T-shirts at all. We’ve all had questions related to copyrights, and this is a great resource for answers.
